General Questions

FAQ

What kinds of classes do you offer?

We offer two options to fit different learning styles: small group classes with closed enrollment for personalized attention in a supportive setting, and 1-on-1 tutoring for students who want a fully customized journey tailored to their goals and needs.

How do you support neurodivergent students or those with different learning profiles?

Our program is rooted in flexible, strategy-based teaching that supports a variety of learning styles—including ADHD, anxiety, and executive functioning challenges. We’re also happy to collaborate with your learning support team to make accommodations where needed.

Who teaches these courses?

With over a decade of experience in education—including test prep tutoring for the Princeton Review and student support with the U.S. Department of State—Coretta Lemaitre brings both academic rigor and global perspective to her instruction. Coretta is a National Merit Finalist, National AP Scholar, and perfect ACT scorer with an undergraduate degree from Northwestern University, where she graduated with Latin Honors, and a graduate degree from Hamburg University.

What makes your approach so effective?

We teach students a strategy-based framework that demystifies the exam by revealing how test questions are designed. We call this method “Hacking the Test Writer’s Brain”—a student-friendly way to describe our strategy-based approach to anticipating how questions are designed. It empowers students to think critically and identify the test’s intended learning targets. This method increases both speed and confidence. It’s not just test prep—it’s cognitive analytical empowerment within a framework of mindfulness.

Will this align with our school’s mission and values?

Yes. Test prep can be empowering and enriching. This curriculum was developed in collaboration with private school college counselors to align with the values of independent schools: fostering student agency, maintaining psychological safety, and promoting growth mindset. Small class sizes and strategic test prep allow students to meet ambitious goals while promoting well-being.

Reducing performance anxiety is important to us. How will this program reduce college prep stress?

Students enjoy and thrive in this test prep curriculum because they enjoy the “Hack the Test Writer’s Brain” approach and because they feel ownership over their score improvement. We teach mindset tools, help students reframe limiting beliefs, and focus on wins to create momentum. Our students walk away feeling empowered and satisfied with their well-earned accomplishment. Test prep done well is an opportunity to practice curiosity, self-awareness, and critical thinking—skills that serve students in college and beyond.

Our students are already overscheduled. Is this a realistic addition?

We understand and share your concern—independent school students are balancing rigorous academics, extracurriculars, and often leadership or service commitments. Weekly tutoring sessions are no more than 120 minutes, homework is curated to focus on key skills, and the focus is always on strategic learning—not busywork. We offer flexible scheduling options: during school, after school, on weekends, or summer intensives.
